Come join us at Wine Sync, Northville for this special event hosted by U.S. Imports with special guest, Giovanni Olivini of Olivini Winery. This is Giovanni's second visit to Michigan.
Located on the south side of Lake Garda, and straddling the Lombardi/Veneto border, Olivini winery has focused on crafting the highest quality white, red and sparkling wines from their vineyards.
The local clone of Trebbiano, the dominant native white variety is called Trebbiano di Lugana, and it is prized for it's focus and aromatics. Olivini uses it as the base for both stainless steel and oak aged still whites, and a metodo classico brut that's vintage dated and aged for a minimum of 18 months on the lees.
Red wines are mostly blends, and their flagship, called Notte a San Martino, inspired by the first harvest which is done at night, is a monovarietal Merlot that is treated to a very unique drying process, similar to that for Amarone, and aging in new, French barrique to produce a wine of uncommon depth and refinement.
Their most unique sparkling wine is their Garda Rosé, a blend of red varieties Groppello, Barbera, Marzemo and Sangiovese, fermented in bottle for richness and savory complexity. |
